ASF Executive Management Board
The African swine fever Executive Management Board (ASF EMB) will bring together federal, provincial, and territorial (FPT) governments and industry representatives to provide guidance and prioritize activities across FPT governments and industry to address the risk of ASF introduction and establishment in Canada. All collaborators on the ASF EMB will work to inform government and industry about pan Canadian actions required to implement the ASF Framework for Action, and will support the delivery of solutions that enhance ASF prevention and response planning and preparedness.
The ASF Executive Management Board (EMB) includes membership from the Canadian Pork Council (CPC), CFIA, Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (AAFC), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Canadian Meat Council (CMC) and the Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec provincial governments. The EMB has been working together on the Pan-Canadian ASF Action Plan.
The Plan includes priority activities organized under four framework pillars:
- Enhanced biosecurity and prevention (lead by CPC)
- Preparedness planning (lead by CFIA)
- Ensure business continuity (lead by CMC)
- Coordinated risk communications (lead by The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs).
