CAHSS Announces New Coordinator

Becky Anderson joined Animal Health Canada (AHC) in April 2026 as the Canadian Animal Health Surveillance System (CAHSS) Coordinator. She holds a BSc in Microbiology and MSc in Pathobiology, specializing in veterinary infectious diseases, from Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph.

Her research focused on antimicrobial resistance in dairy cows and agricultural systems, where she discovered a passion for science communication and the power of creative storytelling to make complex concepts engaging, accessible, and actionable for diverse audiences.

Becky also holds a Certification in Science Communication from the Royal Canadian Institute for Science and is completing a Multimedia Journalism Certification at University of Toronto.

Prior to joining Animal Health Canada, Becky worked in SARS-CoV-2 surveillance using wastewater-based epidemiology and as a research communications and outreach manager at MG360 Groundwater Research Institute. She is excited to bring her interdisciplinary perspective and experience to her work with AHC.

In her personal time, Becky enjoys spending time with her eight-year-old French Bulldog, and as a lifelong reader and advocate for science literacy, she also contributes to the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada as co-chair of the national Book Awards Committee and as a director on the board.
