Along with strong chairperson skills, maintaining a consensus mindset is one of the qualities a Code Committee Chair must have to ensure all Code Committee members have the opportunity to be heard at meetings, and that interactions between Code Committee members are respectful and civil.
But what is a consensus mindset?
The consensus mindset is not a process or a series of checkboxes. It embodies a way of thinking that actively embraces the opportunities the diverse members of the Code Committee have to interact so they can advance shared goals and interests.
It supports teamwork within the Code Committee and helps facilitate and resolve conflicts that may arise when contentious topics are discussed.
