Invasive Wild Pig Leadership Group ensures Canada’s Invasive Wild Pig Strategy remains responsive and effective

The Invasive Wild Pig Leadership Group is a national, multi-stakeholder committee established under the Pan-Canadian African Swine Fever Action Plan and coordinated by Animal Health Canada. Its mandate is to:

  • Coordinate and support regional prevention, management and removal activities across federal, provincial and territorial jurisdictions, as well as the swine industry.
  • Gather and share occurrence and surveillance data to inform decision-making and ensure consistency in reporting and tracking.
  • Leverage expertise from government agencies, industry associations and research organizations to build on existing control measures and develop new tools and best practices.
  • Monitor progress of eradication efforts through regular reporting, working groups and performance metrics.
  • By serving as the focal point for strategic collaboration, the Leadership Group ensures Canada’s Invasive Wild Pig Strategy remains responsive and effective.
