Animal Health Canada partnered with ACER Consulting and hosted an in-person, livestock and poultry depopulation workshop in early November. Canadian and international experts shared their knowledge and experience on this highly technical and process driven topic. Discussions also focused on ensuring humane treatment of animals while addressing human psychological supports and safety during this demanding work.
Lessons learned from avian and swine disease depopulation events were shared and participants provided input on training needs, technology solutions and policy direction required to help the poultry and livestock industry prepare for depopulation events. Learnings from the workshop will help inform the development of a Canadian training program. You can direct your questions about the workshop and presentations to Acer Consulting (acerconsult.ca).
