CAHSS Coordinator, Dr. Murray Gillies recently presented at the National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (NCCEH) Environmental Health webinar on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza: Adapting to a new One Health challenge from an old foe.

CAHSS also organized another update for bovine veterinarians and veterinary professionals, titled Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in US Dairy Cattle & Canada’s Response, with speakers Dr. Greg Goodell (American Association of Bovine Practitioners), Dr. Geneviève Toupin (Canadian Food Inspection Agency), and Dr. Luc Bergeron (Quebec Government). The webinar provided updates on the HPAI outbreak in the United states affecting dairy cattle and featured a presentation from a boots-on-the-ground veterinarian from Colorado detailing their experience with herds affected by HPAI. The webinar also provided updates from Canada’s collaborative approach to our response plan if HPAI enters Canadian dairy herds from Federal and Provincial government representatives.
