Shaping the vision and strategies for addressing AMR in Animal Health

AMR Strategic Planning Workshop Report Summary Now Available

Following the release of the Government of Canada’s Pan-Canadian Action Plan (PCAP) for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in June 2023, Animal Health Canada (AHC) held a Strategic Planning Workshop on November 22 to help shape the vision and strategies for addressing AMR in Animal Health.

The hybrid event brought together a ‘network of networks’ that discussed the essential structures and mechanisms needed to foster leadership, collaboration, and coordination for the successful implementation of the plan from an animal health perspective.

The workshop allowed a diverse group of 80+ stakeholder organizations to have dynamic discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and a shared commitment to fostering responsible antimicrobial use.

The session was followed by a stakeholder survey to further clarify objectives. The diverse perspectives contributed to a comprehensive discussion on the challenges and opportunities in addressing antimicrobial resistance. The details of activities are now available to read in the project summary report.
